Light of Mine (2011) Director: Brett Eichenberger Writers: Jill Remensnyder Stars: Rebecca Sanborn, Ji Tanzer, Justin King Genre: Drama Country: United States Language: English Release Date: 30 June 2011 (USA) Filming Location: Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, Idaho, USA Reviews: "I would have to say that from the standpoint of a physician, let alone an ophthalmologist, it is always nice to see a film that tackles the difficult life challenges we all face when disease strikes. LHON is a genetically inherited disease that is dramatic, unsympathetic and relatively rapid in onset. It can be as devastating as it is rare. Having diagnosed a patient with this disease when I was a medical student and having seen what happened to that poor young man, this condition has had a lasting impact on my career. I would recommend you watch the LHON documentary filmed by the same group.

It really adds an added element of optimism at the end of the movie. The movie doesn't sugar coat the ending but provides gentle optimism that comes with acceptance of things that we often would rather deny. I think the writer and director have done a wonderful job researching and filming this movie. I would highly recommend this film... it is not something your 2 or 10 year old would enjoy but it is very touching and honest piece that you don't come across every day."
